Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Eduard Heger discussed issues of countering Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger, who arrived in Ukraine on a visit to participate in the Buchansky summit. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian leader on Friday, March 31.
During his welcoming speech, Zelensky told Heger that he was always welcome in Ukraine.
“On behalf of our people, I thank you for the support that you, your government and the President of Slovakia, as well as ordinary people have provided to Ukraine during such a difficult and challenging year,” the President said.
During the meeting, Zelensky and Heger discussed issues of countering Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and further cooperation between Kyiv and Bratislava both at the bilateral level and on international platforms.
The President of Ukraine thanked for the recent significant package of security support from Slovakia, which contained MiG-29 aircraft and air defense systems.
Special attention during the meeting was paid to the implementation of the Ukrainian initiative on the formula of peace. Zelensky noted that Ukraine is working with a wide range of partners to prepare for a global peace summit. The importance of Slovakia’s full support for the peace formula and readiness to join in its implementation was noted.
Zelensky and Heger also exchanged views on topical issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.
Politicians touched upon the issue of involving Slovakia in the restoration and restoration of Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that an urgent challenge for our country is the speedy restoration of social infrastructure in the de-occupied territories.
“The restoration of kindergartens, schools and medical institutions is important for the return of citizens to the liberated territories,” the president stressed and thanked Slovakia for providing asylum to Ukrainians who were forced to seek salvation from the war.
Recall that today, in addition to Eduard Heger, the president of Moldova, as well as the prime ministers of Croatia and Slovenia, arrived in Ukraine.
