More than 1,400 people died in Bucha during the Russian occupation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on his Telegram channel on the anniversary of the liberation of the city.

Bucha and Buchansky district were under occupation for more than a month. In early April 2022, the Russian military retreated from the areas surrounding Kyiv, after which the Ukrainian authorities and journalists reported civilian deaths on the streets of Bucha.
