Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) sent 75% of the cash value he kept in a bank in Brazil to the US in December 2022, after being defeated at the polls by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the elections of the year past.
Of the BRL 907,000 in cash deposited in banks, which Bolsonaro declared to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), in the 2022 elections, the former president transferred BRL 675,000 to BB Americas, a branch of Banco do Brasil on US soil.
Former Minister of Communications and Bolsonaro’s lawyer, Fabio Wajngarten explained that the former president transferred the resources because he does not trust the PT government’s conduct of the economy.
The US account was discovered by the Federal Police during investigations into irregularities in Bolsonaro’s vaccine cards, his family and closest advisors, such as the ex-president’s former assistant, Mauro Cid.

In testimony to the Federal Police last Friday (20), Gabriela Cid, wife of Mauro Cid, confirmed that she used the vaccination card with false data to enter the USA.

The Federal Police believe that in addition to Gabriela and Mauro Cid, the couple’s three daughters have received adulterated vaccination cards to travel. No member of the family of Bolsonaro’s former assistant would have taken immunizations against Covid-19.
During her testimony, Gabriela Cid confirmed that her husband was responsible for tampering with the documents. The defense’s strategy is for Mauro Cid’s wife to be indicted only for using false documents.
This Saturday (20), the website UOL revealed that in addition to Cabeceiras (GO) and Duque de Caxias (RJ), Mauro Cid would also have used the municipality of Campos de Goytacazes (RJ) to produce false vaccine records for Bolsonaro, his family and advisors.
Campos de Goytacazes is commanded by Bolsonaro allies. The mayor of the municipality is Wladimir Garotinho (PSD-RJ), son of Anthony and Rosinha Garotinho, and brother of federal deputy Clarissa Garotinho.
