The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive additional security support in the amount of $375 million. This became known after the meeting between Joe Biden and Vladimir Zelensky at the G7 summit.
The United States announced a new military aid package to Ukraine after US leader Joe Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the G-7 summit in Japanese Hiroshima. This was announced on May 21 by the press service of the Pentagon.
Additional assistance to meet the critical needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will include additional ammunition for HIMARS, artillery shells, anti-tank weapons worth up to $375 million.
The package includes:
- additional ammunition for missile HIMARS;
- artillery shells of 155 mm and 105 mm caliber;
- TOW missiles;
- Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
- laser-guided ammunition;
- explosive ammunition;
- armored bridge systems;
- armored medical vehicles;
- trucks and trailers for transporting heavy equipment;
- thermal imaging systems;
- spare parts and other field equipment.
“The United States will continue to work with its allies and partners to ensure Ukraine is equipped to meet its immediate battlefield needs and long-term security assistance needs,” the Pentagon said.
Recall that during his speech at the session of the summit of the G7 countries and Ukraine, Zelensky stated the need for global leadership of democracy and thanked Western partners for air defense systems and the decision to train pilots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on modern fighters.
