Gazprom demands that European countries pay for the supply of Russian gas in rubles in connection with the sanctions, but Finland refused.
The Finnish state wholesale gas company Gasum terminated the contract for the purchase of gas from Gazprom Export by pipeline from Russia. It is reported by Reuters.
It is noted that Gazprom stopped deliveries of natural gas through the Gasum pipeline in May 2022 due to a dispute over payments, the parties were negotiating to resolve this issue.
Gazprom demands that European countries pay for the supply of Russian gas in rubles in connection with the sanctions, but Finland refused.
Last November, an arbitration panel ruled that Gasum was not required to pay in rubles, but ordered both parties to negotiate a settlement.
According to the Finnish company, the parties failed to resolve the situation within the time period determined by the arbitration court, so Gasum terminated the long-term gas supply contract.
The termination applies only to pipeline deliveries. But Gasum’s long-term LNG supply contract with Gazprom Export it remains valid.
