The war in Ukraine can be stopped only when “Russia concludes an agreement with the United States,” the Hungarian prime minister believes.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with Bloomberg that Ukraine cannot win the war with Russia, and it doesn’t matter who invaded whom.
“Looking at the numbers, looking at those around, looking at the fact that NATO is not ready to send troops, it is clear that there is no victory on the battlefield for poor Ukrainians,” he said.
Orban believes that the war can allegedly be stopped only when Russia concludes an agreement with the United States. The Hungarian prime minister also expressed hope that Donald Trump would be the next American president.
Orban also said that Ukraine and the Russian Federation should be convinced of the need to reach the only possible solution, which, in his opinion, is a ceasefire. And after that, peace negotiations should begin.
“There is no chance of victory for either side. This is a war that takes many people’s lives without giving results,” he said.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reacted to the statements of the Hungarian prime minister. Oleg Nikolenko, spokesman for the department, said that the Kremlin should rejoice, because Orban removed Russia’s responsibility for its aggression against Ukraine.
“The same European politicians argued last year that Ukraine has no chance to hold out for more than 72 hours. They were wrong then, they are wrong now,” he wrote on Facebook.
Nikolenko stressed that unlike the supporters of capitulation to the enemy without resistance, the Ukrainians will continue to fight until the territories are completely liberated from the invaders. After all, this is the only way not only to restore peace in Ukraine, but also to ensure the security of all of Europe.
