Singer Tina Turner has died in Switzerland at the age of 83. It is reported by Sky News with reference to its press secretary.
“Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock and Roll’, died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness at her home in Kusnacht near Zurich,” he said in a statement.
Turner was one of the most popular female singers of the 1960s and 1980s. Rolling Stone magazine called her one of the greatest singers of our time.
Tina Turner was born in the USA in 1939. Her birth name is Anna May Bullock. Stage success came to her in the early 1960s when she became a popular rhythm and blues performer. She has eight Grammy awards, an MTV Video Music Awards, two American Music Awards and numerous other prizes.
Turner was also known as a dancer and actress. In 1986, a star dedicated to her appeared on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
