Destroyed houses in Bakhmut
At present, the enemy in the Bakhmut direction is trying to stop the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the flanks with artillery shelling, Anna Malyar noted.
PMC Wagner mercenaries really began to leave their positions in the suburbs of Bakhmut. This was announced by Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar on Telegram on Thursday, May 25.
“In the suburbs of Bakhmut, the enemy replaced Wagner units with regular army units. In the city of Bakhmut itself, the Wagnerites remain at the moment. Our troops control the outskirts of the city in the southwestern part in the Airplane area,” she wrote.
According to her, now the enemy in the Bakhmut direction is trying to stop the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the flanks with artillery shelling. The Russians are bringing additional units to the flanks to reinforce them.
Malyar also said that eastern Ukraine remains the epicenter of hostilities. In addition to Bakhmut, the enemy is making an offensive in several directions – Avdeevsky, Maryinsky, Limansky and Kupyansky.
“Enemy attacks have been repelled on Avdiyivsky and Maryinsky. The enemy’s offensive actions have been unsuccessful. On Limansky, the enemy has taken a break over the past day and has not carried out offensive operations. Fighting continues on Kupyansky. Maller said.
Earlier Thursday, Wagner PMC leader Yevgeny Prigozhin announced the withdrawal of mercenaries from Bakhmut. Until June 1, the bulk of the “Wagnerites” will be relocated to rear camps, he assured.
A few days ago, the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that the Wagner PMC group in Bakhmut was almost destroyed, which is why Prigozhin wants to leave the city.
