The Supreme Court held an extraordinary session
Judges Stanislav Kravchenko, Natalia Kovalenko, Albert Ezerov, Ivan Mishchenko are contending for the post of new head of the Supreme Court, according to the media.
An extraordinary plenum of the Supreme Court has begun in Kyiv, at which its new chairman and deputy will be elected. This is reported Ukrinform on Friday, May 26th.
It is known that the session is plenipotentiary – more than 140 judges out of 165 are present. However, there was a proposal to postpone the plenum of the session until June 2, or until June 15.
Some of the judges present spoke in favor of rescheduling the session to another date so that the candidates could properly communicate with the large staff of the Supreme Court. In particular, one of the candidates for the post of head of the Armed Forces, Natalya Kovalenko, noted that she did not have a formed team, she did not know who would potentially be her deputy. “And two days was not enough time for me,” she clarified.
At the same time, 119 participants of the meeting spoke in favor of continuing the plenum meeting, 24 – against. The plenum meeting continued.
Earlier, the media reported that judges Stanislav Kravchenko, Natalia Kovalenko, Albert Ezerov, Ivan Mishchenko are applying for the post of new head of the Supreme Court.
The very next day, the Supreme Court dismissed Knyazev from his post. And on May 18, he was arrested until July 14 with the possibility of making a bail of more than 107 million hryvnias.
