Professionals from the state education network held a protest, this Friday (26), on Avenida Presidente Vargas, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, demanding the implementation of the national teaching salary floor not only for all teachers, but also for teachers. other employees working in education.
During the demonstration, several banners were raised asking for payment of the national floor. On social networks, the Union of Education Professionals of Rio de Janeiro (Sepe) denounced violence by the Military Police with demonstrators.
The act was carried out in response to the decision of the state government, which last Wednesday (24th) announced that it would create a decree that only benefits the careers of teachers. After the announcement, the professionals decided to maintain the strike, understanding that the measure does not benefit everyone who works in the area.

Most of the administrative employees (servants, cooks, porters, student inspectors, etc.) earn a minimum wage (R$802.00)”.
In addition, Sepe says it is open to negotiation, but that it cannot accept that the category’s career plan is destroyed.
“We cannot accept that this comes with the risk that, at the end of the day, it will destroy our career plan, so hard won still in the 80s, it will be destroyed based on promises that “as soon as justice allow “the plan will be paid for,” the union said in a statement.
The workers have been on strike since the 17th of May, and claim the minimum payment, with the fulfillment of the career plan. The next meeting is scheduled for June 1.
