A decree published this Monday (7) by the City of Rio de Janeiro prohibits the use of cell phones during classes in municipal schools.
The ban on technological devices, according to the text, extends to activities that take place outside the classroom.

The decree stipulates that the devices may only be used with the permission of the teachers for educational purposes. Cell phones will only be allowed for students with disabilities who depend on the device to monitor their health.
According to the text, cell phones and other electronic devices should be stored in the student’s backpack or purse, turned off or on in silent mode and without vibration.

The text states that if there is non-compliance with the established rules, “the teacher may warn the student and/or restrict the use of electronic devices in the classroom, as well as trigger the management team of the school unit”.
