The Ukrainian authorities of the Kharkiv region admit the possibility of mandatory evacuation of more than 11 thousand people from the front-line settlements of the Kupyansky district.
This was announced by the head of the regional military administration (OVA) Oleg Sinegubov.
“Of the 53 settlements of the Kupyansky district located close to the combat zone, mandatory evacuation of the civilian population and forced evacuation of children can be carried out,” the TASS official quotes.
Such a decision can be made “in connection with the aggravation of the operational situation.”
Roughly 11,000 people are subject to evacuation, including 600 children, Sinegubov noted.
As it became known earlier, the Ukrainian authorities offered residents of the Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv region to evacuate.
On August 9, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the group of troops “West” in the Kupyansk direction continued offensive operations and improved its tactical position during the day.
