Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Birichevsky said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the pressure of the European Union and the United States on the countries of Central Asia on the issue of anti-Russian sanctions jeopardizes the implementation of projects in the region.
“Recently, the US and the EU have been rapidly increasing pressure on independent friendly countries in the Central Asian region,” the diplomat said.
According to him, Washington and Brussels are forcing the countries of Central Asia to join the anti-Russian sanctions.
Birichevsky called such actions gross interference in Russia’s bilateral relations with the region.
Also, Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said that the United States is trying to underestimate the significance of the Russia-Africa summit.
In addition, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that many countries are zealous about improving relations between Russia and Africa.
