The name of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former assistant to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), has returned to the Brazilian news in recent days. A spreadsheet delivered to the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) on January 8 by the Civil House showed that Cid tried to access his functional e-mail 99 times even after the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) blocked his login, on 15 of March this year.

At the same time, his father, reserve general Mauro César Lourena Cid, was the target of an operation by the Federal Police (PF), this Friday (11), for allegedly selling gifts delivered by foreign delegations to the Presidency.
Email access in the Lula government
According to the spreadsheet obtained by the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, before being blocked, Cid accessed his e-mail about 500 times already during the Lula government.
After December 31 of last year, “there are records of validation of the credentials of the public agent mentioned in the request (Mauro Cid), carried out through network servers that provide internet access to the electronic mail service”, says the document sent by the Civil House.

During this period, Mauro Cid even received, for example, travel itineraries for Lula and the president’s security team. As Bolsonaro’s assistant, the lieutenant colonel received information about the Presidency’s activities and organized the former president’s trips.
In a press release, the Civil House stated that “the deactivation of e-mail accounts of former employees of the Presidency of the Republic is being automated, so that it no longer depends on human action. With this, possible inconsistencies will be avoided”.
Mauro Cid’s father is targeted by the PF
This Friday (11), the Federal Police served a search warrant on addresses of names linked to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for alleged sale of gifts delivered by foreign delegations to the Presidency.
Among the targets are reserve general Mauro César Lourena Cid, father of former aide-de-camp Mauro Cid; Army second lieutenant Osmar Crivelatti, Mauro Cid’s right-hand man; and former Bolsonaro family lawyer Frederick Wassef.

In a note, the PF stated that all are suspected of “misappropriating goods of high patrimonial value, delivered by foreign authorities in official missions to representatives of the Brazilian State, through the sale of these items abroad”. The diligence is a result of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) inquiry into the activities of digital militias.
The amounts obtained from the sales would have been “converted into cash and entered the personal assets of the investigated, through intermediary persons and without using the formal banking system, with the aim of hiding the origin, location and ownership of the values”.
Along the same lines, Mauro Cid is also the subject of an inquiry that investigates the case of jewelry from Saudi Arabia, gifts given to the Presidency of the Republic, but which were illegally brought to Brazil and incorporated into Bolsonaro’s personal collection during his term. According to the PF, Cid tried to recover the jewels that were seized by the Federal Revenue Service at Brasília International Airport.
