Former Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Sergey Gurenko believes that the railway workers could have a better start in the Russian Football Championship of the 2023/24 season.
“The potential of the current Lokomotiv squad is higher than the current position in the standings. The team is still getting in shape. It is hard to judge any global problems by the first rounds. Somewhere in the middle of the championship, everything will fall into place, ”Gurenko quotes Sport Day after Day.
According to him, many expected that Lokomotiv would show itself better in the debut matches of the new season.
“These expectations were based on the well-conducted ending of the last championship,” Gurenko added.
In the last minutes, Lokomotiv snatched a draw in the fourth round match of the Russian Championship with the Samara Krylya Sovetov (1: 1).
The capital club is in seventh place with five points in the standings.
Earlier, Lokomotiv announced that Artyom Dziuba would join the team in the near future.
