Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin is confident that the International University Sports Festival in Yekaterinburg will be held at the highest level.
“Students from 281 universities from 161 cities of the world came to us. This is a great student sports family, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who came to us in difficult times and once again showed that there is no place for politicization and discrimination in sports, ”TASS quotes Matytsyn.
According to him, a unique infrastructure has been created in Yekaterinburg, the city is filled with friendly energy.
“I want to address the students and say that our future is in your hands. I wish you victories and love, come to Russia, happy holidays, ”Matytsin concluded.
Competitions will be held until August 31 with the participation of more than 4 thousand students from 36 countries of the world. As part of the competition, 197 sets of medals in 14 sports will be played.
Earlier it was reported that Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko declared the International University Sports Festival in Yekaterinburg open.
