Undermining the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea could be carried out by Ukrainian saboteurs. So it is stated in a joint investigation of the German magazine Der Spiegel and media company ZDF.
Journalists believe that the sabotage was carried out by a group of divers and explosives from the Andromeda yacht, which they rented from the German company Mola Yachting through nominees. The investigation found traces of HMX explosive on it – the same that was found at the explosion site.
The investigators also refer to the secret correspondence between the intelligence services of Germany, the Netherlands and the American CIA in the summer of 2022 that fell into their hands. It contains a warning about a sabotage being prepared by Ukraine and states that the operation is directly commanded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky does not know about it. Der Spiegel claims that the German authorities did not pay due attention to the warning.
Journalists and the police managed to identify one of the members of the alleged sabotage group. This is a serviceman of the 93rd mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery K. from the city of Dnipro. Traces of his DNA were found on the Andromeda.
The authors of the investigation cannot say whether the group acted on the orders of Kyiv – and who in this case gave the order – or planned the sabotage on their own.
At the end of September 2022, three of the four strings of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines were damaged. The highway is beyond repair. Investigations by Sweden, Denmark and Germany have shown that gas pipelines were blown up, but the culprits are still being established. The Russian authorities believe that the United States and its allies were interested in the accident. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has denied Kyiv’s involvement in the Nord Stream explosions.
