Researcher at the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Konstantin Blokhin, in an interview with RT, commented on the message that the Pope expressed a desire for the Vatican to receive observer status in the BRICS.
The interlocutor of RT noted that BRICS is an “attractive organization” and is expanding even at the expense of such players, between which there are contradictions.
The specialist linked the desire of the Vatican to obtain observer status in the BRICS with the intention to control the organization and collect information for Western countries.
“The Vatican, relatively speaking, is located in the center of the West, is associated with Western civilization, and the BRICS was created as an alternative to the Western unipolar world, which non-Western states enter and wish to enter. Therefore, I think that the desire of the Vatican is dictated by the intention to control and receive information from the BRICS, and possibly even transfer this information to leading Western states, including the United States, ”Blokhin believes.
He also recalled that the Vatican is famous and known “not only for the Pope, but also for its special services.”
“I think that this desire (of the Vatican. – RT ) is dictated by an attempt to understand what processes and contradictions are there (in BRICS. – RT ). The United States and Great Britain, for example, will definitely not be accepted there, but here it seems to be under the flag of the Catholic Church. So here you need to think ten times whether it is worth giving the green light, ”the political scientist is sure.
Earlier, Pope Francis said that he would like the Vatican to have observer status in the BRICS.
