The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, offered a bet against the backdrop of accusations of corruption by the department with the purchase of summer jackets instead of winter ones.
According to the Ukrainian edition “STRANA”, Reznikov promised to leave the post if the information about the jackets for Ukrainian soldiers in the media turns out to be true.
Under the terms of the minister, if this is not the case, people’s deputy Anastasia Radina must surrender her mandate, and UP journalist Mikhail Tkach must leave the profession for three years.
Reznikov invited the Parliamentary Ethics Committee of the Verkhovna Rada and the Commission of Journalistic Ethics as “arbitrators”, he invited the editors of Ukrainian publications to act as observers.
Earlier, journalists from the Zerkalo Nedeli newspaper suspected the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense of buying jackets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at an inflated price.
It is noted that, according to the deal, 4,900 jackets worth $142,000 were to be delivered to Ukraine in one of the batches. However, later their price increased to $421,000.
In addition, the journalists found out that the company actually turned out to be not Turkish, but belonged to Ukrainian citizen Roman Pletnev.
In Kyiv, a criminal case was opened on the fact of these purchases.
Before that, Polish journalist Lukasz Wazheha said that Ukraine would not join the EU because of corruption and anti-democratic laws.
