Former head coach of the Russian national team Vyacheslav Bykov commented on the situation around CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov.
“As for the situation itself, now all officials, organizations, structures are more dependent on those who directly create magic on the ice and attract fans. They are simply obliged to protect the players and look for compromises in their interests. Therefore, I believe that the IIHF, NHL, KHL, FHR, the leaders of CSKA and Philadelphia should find some kind of joint solution to protect the rights of Fedotov, ”RIA Novosti quotes Bykov.
On August 14, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) imposed a ban on international transfers on CSKA due to the situation with Fedotov’s contract. The hockey player himself was suspended for four months. The suspension will take effect on September 1, 2023 and end on December 31, 2023.
In May 2022, the 26-year-old Russian signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. In the summer of the same year, he was drafted into the ranks of the RF Armed Forces for military service. In June, the National Hockey League club announced that the agreement with the goalkeeper was extended for a year.
Earlier it was reported that the IIHF received the motivational part of the CSKA appeal in the Fedotov case.
