In Pskov, drones attacked an airfield that houses military and civilian airlines. The attack took place on the night of August 30, residents of the city heard explosions and gunfire.
The city is located approximately 800 kilometers from the territory of Ukraine. The governor of the region at about 1 am confirmed the information about the attack, saying that its consequences are still being assessed. Airspace over the region is restricted for aircraft flights.
It is preliminary reported that four Il-76 military transport aircraft were damaged.
The military transport Berlin Red Banner Aviation Regiment, which takes an active part in the war with Ukraine, is based at the airfield. In addition, the 76th Airborne Assault Division of the Airborne Forces is located in the city, Il-76 aircraft participate in the transfer of paratroopers.
Passenger flights are also made from the airport. Four were scheduled for August 30: to Moscow, Kaliningrad, Mineralnye Vody and Minsk, follows from the schedule of the civil part of the airport. Their cancellation was not reported at the time of publication of the news.
