Ukraine wants to start negotiations on joining the European Union before the end of this year, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
“We have discussed the path that the European Union and Ukraine must go through before the end of this year in order to open negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the European Union,” RIA Novosti quoted Kuleba as saying at a press conference with her French counterpart Catherine Colonna.
He noted that Ukraine has already carried out a number of reforms required to join the EU.
In early August, the Financial Times wrote that the admission of Ukraine to the European Union would be a heavy burden for the EU in financial terms, this calls into question the future of the European project.
