CSKA President Igor Esmantovich said that the club has filed an appeal with the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) in the case of goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov.
“We filed an appeal with the IIHF. But it got to the point where we had to make our decision. We accepted him. FHR, KHL and CSKA cooperate in favor of the hockey player. There was no hesitation when making decisions,” Match TV quoted Esmantovich as saying.
On September 1, Fedotov was included in CSKA’s squad for the game with Ak Bars in the opening match of the season.
On August 27, it became known that the FHR banned Fedotov from playing for CSKA in the KHL until January 1, 2024, supporting the decision of the IIHF. It is clarified that the federation approved CSKA’s application for Fedotov for the new season.
On August 14, the IIHF imposed a ban on international transfers on CSKA due to the situation with Fedotov’s contract. The hockey player himself was suspended for four months. The disqualification comes into force on September 1, 2023 and ends on December 31, 2023. Fedotov will be included in the Army team for the upcoming KHL season until his disqualification ends.
Earlier, Alexey Morozov spoke out that Fedotov was included in CSKA’s application.
