Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nizhny Novgorod Paris NN Dmitry Kondratov made it clear that the club’s management is not against midfielder Edgar Sevikyan’s decision to play for the Armenian national football team.
“We support Sevikyan. We discussed everything with Edgar, he notified us of his decision, this is his personal decision, we will not influence it. Yesterday we talked about it, we decided not to hide anything, to tell it as openly as possible,” Sport-Express quotes Sevikyan.
According to him, the Football Federation of Armenia is handling Sevikyan’s documents.
“We cannot influence this in any way, this is not our question,” Kondratov added.
On August 31, the 22-year-old midfielder refused a call to the Russian national team, as he decided to play for the Armenian team.
Sevikyan scored three goals in nine matches for Paris NN in all competitions in the 2023/24 season. His contract with the club runs until June 30, 2025.
It was previously reported that Sevikyan could make his debut for the Armenian national football team in October.
