Senator Alexei Pushkov expressed the opinion that French President Emmanuel Macron cannot do anything to oppose the desire of African countries to reach out to Russia, which represents an alternative to the colonial West.
He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“France… ceases to control hitherto obedient and resource-rich regions,” the senator noted.
At the same time, according to him, African countries perceive Russia as the heir of the USSR, which helped Africa a lot.
“Macron’s confusion and irritation are caused precisely by these new factors,” Pushkov added.
Previously, Macron condemned the West’s attempts to establish relations with the rebels in Niger.
The French leader also announced France’s readiness to support ECOWAS military actions in Niger.
