Head coach of HC CSKA Sergei Fedorov emotionally answered the question about the situation with the team’s goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov.
“I don’t know, but I think everyone needs to wake up a long time ago. A special military operation is underway, the world has changed a long time ago. And there are correct statements, but this is 1%. 99% of statements are about some kind of agreements, commonwealth, and so on and so forth. It will not happen!
Therefore, here we all need to wake up a little and understand the conditions and realities we live in,” the CSKA press service quotes Fedorov as saying.
On September 1, Fedotov took part in the opening match of the KHL season with Ak Bars.
On August 27, it became known that the FHR banned Fedotov from playing for CSKA in the KHL until January 1, 2024, supporting the decision of the IIHF. It is clarified that the federation approved CSKA’s application for Fedotov for the new season.
On August 14, the IIHF imposed a ban on international transfers on CSKA due to the situation with Fedotov’s contract. The hockey player himself was suspended for four months. The disqualification takes effect on September 1 and ends on December 31, 2023. Fedotov will be included in the Army team for the upcoming KHL season until his disqualification ends.
It was previously reported that Fedorov believes that goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov played at a good level in the opening match.
