North Korea, in response to joint maneuvers by the United States and South Korea, conducted exercises simulating a tactical nuclear strike.
The WPK Central Military Committee ordered retaliatory maneuvers to demonstrate North Korea’s deterrence capabilities.
“On September 2, a missile launch exercise was held to simulate a tactical nuclear attack in order to warn enemies against a practical nuclear crisis,” KCNA said in a statement.
As part of the exercise, North Korea launched two long-range strategic cruise missiles “with warheads that simulated nuclear ones.”
Earlier, the TASS agency, citing the Korean Central Telegraph Agency (KCNA), reported that Washington and Seoul were working out the scenario of a preventive nuclear strike on the DPRK.
