Senator Artyom Sheikin reported the need to change the factory PIN codes on SIM cards in order to protect money from scammers.
“I would like to note that it should be reliable, not obvious… This will provide an additional level of protection and make it difficult for unauthorized access to your data,” he told RIA Novosti.
Sheikin recalled that using biometric protection on a smartphone is not enough to safely store data, since the phone number is linked to social networks, bank accounts and other services.
“Although two-factor identification helps in protecting data, it is ineffective if an attacker manages to gain access to your SIM card and find out the number,” the agency’s interlocutor explained.
Earlier, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov spoke in a conversation with RT about a fraud scheme, according to which a call comes through a messenger, supposedly the Gosuslug operator is checking whether the user has changed the password to enter the portal.
Sberbank also warned that scammers have come up with a scheme to deceive Russians who respect family values.
