On the eve of leaving his post, former head of the British Ministry of Defense Ben Wallace tried to disrupt a contract for the supply of Chinook helicopters from the United States, sources tell The Sunday Times.
According to TASS, Britain was supposed to buy 14 American-made Chinook H-47 helicopters.
However, in August, Wallace sent a letter to his American colleague Lloyd Austin with a proposal to reconsider the agreement, while a final decision had not yet been made in Britain.
A source for The Sunday Times noted that Wallace was skeptical about the contract, especially after its value increased by $630 million.
Earlier, Grant Shapps was appointed as the new head of the British Ministry of Defense.
At the same time, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called Wallace agent 006, who ingloriously left the battlefield.
