Russian Daniil Medvedev believes that the organizers were poorly prepared for the 2023 US Open.
“The conditions here are very difficult. Something similar happened at the Tokyo Olympics. Quite hot. It wasn’t easy for me and Andrey to play either,” Medvedev said on the court after the 1/4 final match with Rublev.
Medvedev admitted that at some point he felt that he began to get lost in space.
“I couldn’t see the ball, I tried to play by feel. My opponent did the same,” added the 28-year-old Muscovite.
The game ended in three sets with a score of 6:4, 6:3, 6:4 in favor of the winner of the US Open 2021. The meeting lasted 2 hours 48 minutes.
Medvedev’s next opponent will be the winner of the match between Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) and Andrey Zverev (Germany).
The prize pool for the 2023 US Open is $65 million.
It was previously reported that Medvedev called a doctor in the second set of the match with Rublev.
