To provide support to the victims of the heavy rains that hit several cities in Rio Grande do Sul at the beginning of the week, the Civil Defense and a series of entities, social movements, companies and volunteers are promoting campaigns to collect donations.

Anyone who wants to join this chain of solidarity can donate items such as cleaning and hygiene products, warm clothing, bedding and mattresses, non-perishable food and drinking water. There are collection points in several cities and it is also possible to contribute through Pix.
How to donate in Porto Alegre and the Metropolitan region
Civil Defense, Executive and Legislative
The RS Civil Defense Donation Center, located at the Fernando Ferrari/CAFF Administrative Center (Avenida Borges de Medeiros, 1501, Porto Alegre) is accepting donations. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 6 pm. Contact phone: (51) 3288-6781.
The seat of the state government, Palácio Piratini, and the seat of the Legislative, Palácio Farroupilha (both at Praça Marechal Deodoro, s/n, Historic Center, Porto Alegre), also receive donations.
Croup
The Garupa transport app is carrying donations from Porto Alegre residents for free for those affected. Just contact the number (51) 993341854 via WhatsApp and schedule the race to transport donations free of charge to the Civil Defense reception centers. Drivers will collect and deliver donations free of charge.
Trensurb
Trensurb is receiving donations of warm clothing, non-perishable food and cleaning products at the stations: Mercado, Mathias Velho, Petrobras, Esteio, Luiz Pasteur, São Leopoldo, Santo Afonso and Novo Hamburgo. All proceeds will be passed on to the Civil Defense of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, which will distribute it.
CUT-RS from the unions
CUT-RS launched this Wednesday (6) an emergency solidarity campaign with affiliated unions to collect donations and help families affected by the floods. “The objective of our campaign is to collect mainly non-perishable food, basic food baskets, hygiene and cleaning materials and bedding”, says the entity’s president, Amarildo Cenci.
In the Metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, donations can be sent to affiliated unions or to the CUT-RS headquarters (Rua Barros Cassal, 283 – phone: (51) 3224.2484). The collected donations will be delivered to the municipalities affected during the State Solidarity Day, which will be held on September 23 (Saturday).
Organic fairs in Porto Alegre
The Ecological Farmers Fair (FAE), which takes place this Saturday morning on Av. José Bonifácio, next to Redenção, in Porto Alegre, is collecting donations of clothes and food for affected families in Vale do Taquari. Donations must be left at the FAE Middle Bank.
The Menino Deus Ecological Fair, which takes place at Av. Getúlio Vargas, 1384, Menino Deus neighborhood, is also joining the chain of solidarity. This Saturday, we are receiving warm clothes, blankets, shoes and hygiene items to take to families in Vale do Taquari.

Internacional called on the colorada fans to take donations in the game against São Paulo that will take place next Wednesday (13), at the Beira Rio stadium. Grêmio is collecting donations at the Consular Department of Arena do Grêmio, located in the Humaitá neighborhood, 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

MST solidarity kitchen
The MST opened a solidarity kitchen in the municipality of Encantado with the aim of producing thousands of lunch boxes for families affected by the rains. 1,500 lunch boxes are being produced per day for distribution in the most affected communities.
“We came for this humanitarian task with a significant amount of agrarian reform products, organic products, coming from cooperatives in MST settlements in the metropolitan region and we will stay here”, says settler Marildo Molinari.

Seeds of Solidarity
The Seeds of Emergency Solidarity Mission mobilizes allied organizations in the social and religious field to acquire seeds and actions to aid in the replanting of crops by small farmers and peasant and family farmers affected by the floods in the Taquari Valley.

The campaign is being led by the Padre Josimo Cultural Institute (ICPJ), the Small Farmers Movement (MPA), the Movement of People Affected by Dams (MAB), the Koinós Institute and Cáritas.

They are also joining efforts to gather support for the affected Military Brigade and Military Fire Brigade barracks and police stations. City hall offices and collection points for the clothing campaign across the state also receive donations.
The Federal Highway Police is running a campaign to collect food, mineral water, personal hygiene items, warm clothing and bedding. A statement from the PRF informs that the homeless whose homes were hit by the cyclone are mainly in need, at this time, of cleaning materials, such as brooms, squeegees, cloths and buckets.
