In Simferopol, a fire broke out in a military unit. Local telegram channels wrote about this with reference to eyewitnesses.
Local residents claim that they “heard popping noises.” Later, an adviser to the “head” of the annexed Crimea, Oleg Kryuchkov, confirmed that a military unit was on fire in Simferopol, but he specified that it was a “domestic fire.”
“Two fire engines are working. The fire has been localized,” he wrote.
The Ukrainian armed forces consider Russian military bases in annexed Crimea as legitimate targets and attack them with drones and cruise missiles. So, in the last days of August, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on missiles shot down by air defense forces over the Crimea. On August 25, the Russian agency stated that the Ukrainian army was trying to strike the annexed Crimea with 42 drones.
“As a result of the fire impact over the Crimea, 9 of them were destroyed, 33 were suppressed by electronic warfare and crashed without reaching the target,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The Crimean Bridge, opened in 2020, is often attacked. It connects the annexed peninsula with Russian territory. The first explosion on the Crimean bridge occurred on October 8, 2022, the second on the night of July 17 this year.
In early August, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said that members of the Security Service of Ukraine took part in both operations to undermine the Crimean bridge.
