The drones were spotted in the airspace of Kyiv around one in the morning, the capital’s OVA reported. An air alert was announced in the region. A little later, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, and the head of the Kyiv city military administration, Sergei Popko, specified that fragments were found in three districts of Kyiv – Svyatoshinsky, Podolsky, Shevchenkovsky.
In the Shevchenko district, debris fell into the apartment of a multi-storey building, the residents were able to put out the fire themselves, the city administration said. In the Svyatoshinsky district, debris collapsed in the area of Sovki Park, and a fire started, Popko wrote. In the Podolsk region, debris fell into an open area, one person was injured, Klitschko added.
The mayor of Kyiv also added that debris was burning on the roadway in the Solomensky district of the capital.
According to the head of the Kyiv city military administration, on Sunday night, air defense forces managed to destroy more than two dozen Russian drones over Kiev. “Preliminarily, these were loitering munitions of the Shahed type. The drones entered the capital in groups and from different directions,” Popko wrote.
He specified that most of the wreckage “fell on an open, non-built-up area.” Cars, trolleybus power lines, and road surfaces were damaged, the head of the Kyiv military city administration said.
Later, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that 33 Shahed missile launches were recorded in the direction of the Kyiv region, 26 of which were shot down.
In addition, the Izyum and Kupyansky districts of the Kharkov region came under fire that night. In the Dnepropetrovsk region, three missile strikes were carried out on the city of Nikopol.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported a night attack by Ukrainian drones on annexed Crimea. According to the department, Russian air defense shot down eight aircraft-type drones on approach to the peninsula.
