Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic turned to his parents after winning the final of the US Open 2023 over Russian Daniil Medvedev.
“We went through very difficult circumstances, a couple of wars in my country. My parents sacrificed a lot so that I could play a very expensive sport. I fell in love with tennis. They showed great strength and faith in me,” the Serbian said at a press conference.
The final match ended with the score 6:3, 7:6 (7:5), 6:3.
Tennissite won the fourth US Open in his career. Before that, he won in 2011, 2015 and 2018. He has 24 Grand Slam victories to his credit.
Earlier it was reported that Djokovic, after the US Open final, apologized to Medvedv for ruining his wedding anniversary.
