Olga Gaevskaya, Head of the Career Development and Alumni Relations Department at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, told how to find an approach to young employees, primarily from the zoomer generation.
“It’s more difficult for them to get accustomed to companies where they have to write an explanation for being a minute late. Many of them went to work during a pandemic, when the boundaries of their schedules were blurred. And for them this is the norm. It’s difficult for Zoomer to understand why the boss is dissatisfied,” she said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
According to her, with zoomers it works better to evaluate work not by the amount of time worked, but by the result.
“Zoomers want their work to have meaning. If they don’t see it, they may actually refuse to carry out orders. The only way out is to talk about why this task is so important to complete. It is necessary to give meaning to the work if the employee does not see it himself,” says Gaevskaya.
As the expert noted, if an employer is interested in long-term cooperation, then the zoomer should always have a project that interests him.
Earlier, Yantarny Krai reported that the Kaliningrad region is leading among the regions of the Northwestern Federal District in terms of growth in demand for specialists in blue-collar professions.
