Director of the Department for Control of External Restrictions of the Russian Ministry of Finance, Dmitry Timofeev, said that he does not expect a further tightening of anti-Russian sanctions under a strict scenario, and also does not see prerequisites for the mass confiscation of Russian assets.
TASS reports this with reference to a statement by Dmitry Timofeev, director of the Department for Control of External Restrictions of the Ministry of Finance.
“There is a chance, so to speak, that, firstly, the sanctions will not follow a very harsh scenario, and a massive seizure of property will not happen,” he clarified.
However, Timofeev warned that this is not a guarantee, but only his reasoning.
Earlier, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that his country plans to become the first EU country to legalize the confiscation of Russian assets subject to sanctions this year to finance the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Later, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that if Estonia implements the idea of confiscating Russian assets, Moscow will quickly take extremely sensitive measures.
