Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Nikolai Korchunov said that Russia itself can reliably ensure the security of the Northern Sea Route and its infrastructure.
“We proceed from the fact that Russia is capable of independently reliably ensuring the security of the Northern Sea Route and its infrastructure for the long term,” RIA Novosti quotes the ambassador.
Thus, he commented on the concerns of a number of experts about the possible issue of allowing Chinese warships to the NSR route.
Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin called for expanding the Trans-Siberian Railway and increasing work on the Northern Sea Route.
