UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres does not have the leverage to solve systemic problems with the implementation of the Russian part of the grain deal, said Russia’s permanent representative to the world organization Vasily Nebenzya.
“Unfortunately, we have to admit – and the UN has had to admit this publicly more than once – the Secretary General and his team “do not have the leverage” to solve systemic problems, although they are really trying,” he told RIA Novosti.
Nebenzya emphasized that the Russian side is not sitting idly by and is providing assistance to the least developed African countries, as well as Asia and the Middle East.
On September 12, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the grain deal was currently “on hold” and there was no movement on it.
