Michael Kofman, an analyst at the American Center for Naval Studies, said in an interview with Spiegel that the head of the US State Department, Antony Blinken, lied that in May 2023, Ukraine had all the means to seize vast territories.
“This was not true: the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not have what was necessary, they had what the West was ready to give to Ukraine in the current political conditions,” the expert said.
In addition, Kofman noted that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was constantly postponed, but in the end the Ukrainian military did not live up to the expectations of American experts.
Earlier, Geopolitika.news columnist Zoran Meter expressed the opinion that the US’s initial lack of a strategy for Ukraine will lead the West to a nightmare.
Also, adviser to the acting head of the DPR, Ian Gagin, expressed the opinion that Blinken’s statement about the successes of Ukrainian troops at the front indicates Washington’s desire to “leave gracefully” and begin reducing military assistance.
