First Deputy Minister of Sports Azat Kadyrov said that there is no need to worry about the reduction in government funding for the program for the development of physical education and sports in Russia in the coming years.
“The reduction in the sports budget is planned. the project for 2024 is 55.8 billion rubles, for 2025 – 41.5 billion, for 2026 – 49 billion rubles. Our federal project ends in 2024, it is not yet clear how “Sport is the norm of life” will be implemented further, so I can call the cuts planned,” Kadyrov said.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Sports faces a lot of serious work in the future.
“Therefore, I propose to work with our sleeves rolled up, with the conditions that exist at the moment,” Kadyrov added.
The State Duma is hosting a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports under the leadership of Chairman Dmitry Svishchev together with the Ministry of Sports.
The agenda includes a discussion of the sports budget for 2024 and the planning period for 2025 and 2026. The corresponding bill will be submitted to the State Duma for consideration at the beginning of the autumn session.
Earlier, Svishchev said that Russian athletes should be employed.
