Lokomotiv-Kuban basketball player Alexander Shcherbenev spoke about the semi-final meeting with Fenerbahce in the VTB United League Super Cup.
“The date is, of course, serious. We wanted to win, but we didn’t really concentrate on it. We thought about the game, about how to prepare for CSKA. And we did it. It’s nice that we won, it’s very important for us, for team chemistry. And, of course, we dedicate the victory to Andrei Vladimirovich,” Match TV quoted Shcherbenev as saying.
He also shared his thoughts on the semi-final meeting with Fenerbahce. According to him, you can beat any opponent.
“This is a Euroleague team, so it will be very difficult. But it’s great that we have the opportunity to play with such an opponent in the semi-finals and test ourselves in very serious combat conditions,” added Shcherbenev.
Lokomotiv-Kuban defeated CSKA in the quarterfinals of the VTB United League Super Cup.
The game ended with the score 100:98.
The most productive player of the meeting was Casper Ware from CSKA, who scored 44 points.
The other quarterfinal matches will feature Zenit and Besiktas; UNICS – Paris Nizhny Novgorod.
The Super Bowl ends on September 24.
Earlier, Fenerbahçe head coach and ex-CSKA coach Dimitris Itoudis expressed hope for a quick return of Russian clubs to the international arena.
