“Portraits” at the PÉ DiReitO Cultural Space
The work, which returns to the stages of Brasilia and has already been performed in Portugal, Spain, Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, is the artist’s tribute to the human soul. In Retratos, Giovane’s personal vision is expressed in dance, which he grants unity and singularity.
During the 40-minute presentation, Giovane Aguiar, like a photographer who seeks to record essence beyond image, reveres the existence of close people and great references. The session will take place on September 24th, Sunday, at 7pm, with admission at R$40 (full price), and an age rating of 18.
“Portraits” by Giovane Aguiar / Disclosure
The personalities celebrated, through dance, are Lana, his daughter, and the singer Nina Simone and Pablo, warriors who fight daily battles, with romanticism and love, for what they believe in. Daise and Sophia, representing their friends, the latter being a woman torn between her reason and her heart. And Bola, a duo in which the choreographer dances energetically with a sphere measuring 64 centimeters in diameter.
About the show, Helena Katz, dance critic for the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo, published: “Giovane Aguiar, develops a consistent work focused on New Dance, Sol Num Quarto Vazio (Cities), Giovane Aguiar’s solo, represents a lot This way of thinking about dance is good. There is not the same type of understanding shared in other aesthetics”
Another striking feature of the play is the interaction with the audience, which rules out any hermeticism in the work. During the costume changes, carried out on stage, Giovane tells stories, jokes and laughs with the audience. In this way, the inherent subjectivity imprinted in each solo is exposed in a sincere and honest way, as in a true portrait.
