Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev advised Russian athletes not to rush into changing citizenship.
“I think the athletes are in a hurry. Still, we see that one federation after another has begun to admit our athletes. You just have to be patient, wait. I am sure that if not today, then tomorrow all our athletes in all sports will be admitted,” Match TV quotes Svishchev.
He emphasized that each case of transition must be examined individually.
The day before it became known that divers Igor Myalin and Vyacheslav Kachanov joined the Uzbekistan national team. In other sports, some athletes also change sports citizenship. Most international sports federations do not allow Russians to compete due to the situation in Ukraine.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov spoke about Russians who decided to change their sports citizenship.
