Russia’s acting permanent representative to the European Union, Kirill Logvinov, said that the West’s plans to impose sanctions on diamonds from Russia are aimed at the collapse of the global market control system.
RIA Novosti writes about this.
According to him, this initiative contradicts the rules of international trade and the foundations of the Kimberley Process and carries risks for the functioning of global production and supply chains.
Logvinov added that the positions of a number of developing states involved in these chains, primarily diamond cutting centers, may also be under attack.
On September 18, Bloomberg reported that a new package of sanctions against Russia is planned to be announced in the first half of October.
