Bronze medalist of the Russian Figure Skating Championship Katarina Gerboldt supported the head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe in her judgments about transgender people in sports.
“I am still for the traditional vision of this situation. To some extent, I’m probably infringing on their rights with my opinion, but nevertheless, the whole world has come up with a common policy, and I think we need to adhere to it so as not to promote it,” RIA Novosti quotes Herboldt.
On September 26, the head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR), Elena Vyalbe, expressed the hope that transgender people will not be allowed into cycling sports. She also suggested that the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, establish a new division so that transgender athletes compete separately among themselves.
The first transgender athlete was weightlifter Laurel Hubbard from New Zealand. She participated in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Earlier, the head coach of the Russian artistic gymnastics team, Valentina Rodionenko, said that there cannot be transgender people in artistic gymnastics.
