The Ministry of Racial Equality fired this Tuesday (26) the head of the Special Advisory Department Marcelle Decothé, following the repercussions of her posts on her personal profile on social media criticizing the fans of the São Paulo FC football team during the final of the Copa do Brasil against his team, Flamengo, last Sunday (24).
“We inform you that Marcelle Decothé da Silva was dismissed from the position of Head of the Special Advisory of this Ministry today. The public statements of the public servant on her networks are in clear disagreement with the policies and objectives of the MIR”, says the official note from the ministry published this afternoon on the Ministry’s social networks.
The decision was taken after the repercussion of the server’s posts, who traveled with minister Anielle Franco to Rio de Janeiro to sign a protocol of intentions to combat racism in football with the Brazilian Football Confederation and watch the final of the Copa do Brasil , in Morumbi. The Minister of Human Rights, Silvio Almeida and the Minister of Sports, André Fufuca, also traveled to sign the protocol in the capital of São Paulo.
On her personal networks, Flamengo fan Marcelle made a mocking post about the São Paulo fans. “White fans, who don’t sing, descendants of naughty Europeans… Everything worse from São Paulo”, wrote Decothé in a post on Instagram.
The episode caused great negative repercussions, especially from the opposition to the government, which accused the minister’s advisor Anielle of racism and formalized several complaints against her. In a statement released this Tuesday, the Ministry of Racial Equality reinforced its commitment to combating racism in the country.
“With nine months of current management and a legacy of struggle by many people who build policies to combat racism in the country, we have re-established the affirmative action agenda and put into practice fundamental measures for the inclusion and appreciation of the black population. This is a fight that is configured as a commitment of government and State policy, which is why we will continue to carry out the social transformations that Brazilian society and black people, quilombolas and gypsies desire, valuing the good conduct of the civil servants who make up our staff”, he says the text.

In addition to the public servant’s post, Anielle Franco’s trip to watch the final in Rio de Janeiro had repercussions among the opposition due to the fact that the minister had used a FAB flight for the official appointment while Silvio Almeida, who was also in Brasília, traveled from commercial flight. Politicians opposing the government criticized the fact that Anielle, who is a Flamengo fan, took advantage of her official commitment to go on a FAB flight to watch the football game.
