The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said that a volunteer battalion “Caspian” is being formed in the republic to participate in a special military operation in Ukraine.
Melikov said this in a video message published on his Telegram channel.
“Currently, at the initiative of a number of public associations in our republic, the formation of the Caspian volunteer battalion is underway,” he said.
The head of the republic noted that volunteer battalions and squads are being formed in almost every Russian region.
Melikov expressed confidence that the Caspian fighters will demonstrate true patriotism and selfless service to the country.
Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, at a meeting of the Pobeda organizing committee, said that it is important to provide equal rights to all participants in a special military operation: volunteers, mobilized, contract soldiers, military, and law enforcement officers.
