According to witnesses, five armed criminals closed the road with burned tires to commit a robbery. The thieves had already attacked several vehicles when they captured the driver of the bus on line 771 (Campo Grande-Coelho Neto, via Estrada da Posse).
After stealing passengers’ belongings, the criminals exploded the homemade device inside the bus. Three people were injured. A man in serious condition was taken to the Albert Schweitzer Municipal Hospital, in Realengo.
The Rio bus company union regretted what happened and appealed to the authorities to take the necessary measures. In a statement, Rio Ônibus commented that passengers and bus workers lost the right to come and go and held the state government responsible.
“Daily, the State’s inaction on Public Security issues is exposed by episodes of extreme violence. Crime and fear, unfortunately, have become routine, just as victims have become statistics”, said the entity.
