Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin noted the importance of the work of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) with international sports federations to allow Russian athletes to participate in the 2034 Games in Paris.
“The admission of our Paralympians in a neutral status confirms the authority of the Russian Paralympic Committee in the international arena and its successful work in upholding the true principles of sport,” TASS quotes Matytsin.
According to him, Russian Paralympians always show high results and are undoubted leaders on the world stage.
“Without their participation, any competition, especially one as large as the Paralympic Games, loses spectator interest,” Matytsin added.
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) suspended the membership of the RPC on September 29. However, athletes from Russia in a neutral status were allowed to participate in the international and Paralympic Games in Paris.
Earlier, RKR President Pavel Rozhkov said that the organization intends to seek the full restoration of its legal rights in the IPC and the rights of Russian athletes.
