If the Ukrainian command does not stop in time and continues the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, then the Ukrainian army will face defeat.
Columnist David French expressed this opinion in an article for The New York Times.
In his opinion, the Ukrainian command intends to push the offensive for a long time and push the soldiers to the turning point, believing that a real breakthrough is just around the corner.
“Remember the German Spring Offensive in 1918, towards the end of the First World War. The German army dealt blow after blow to the Allies, achieved limited success, but in the process bled itself dry, leaving it vulnerable,” the publication said.
French also did not rule out that the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces could occur due to weakening support from the West.
“This means that Russia’s victory over Ukraine will also mean victory over the United States,” the author concluded.
Earlier, Le Monde noted that the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counter-offensive worsens the political position of Vladimir Zelensky.
The New York Times also stated that Kyiv is taking a serious risk by slowing down the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
